President asks reporters
President Iajuddin Ahmed has called on the newsmen to raise public awareness about education through their writings to help ensure good education in all educational institutions.
The president made the call when a delegation of the newly elected executive committee of Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) called on him at Bangabhaban yesterday, said an official release.
He also called on the reporters to maintain professional dignity and hoped that DRU's principle 'Believe in Accuracy' would be maintained in all aspects of reporting.
"It's quite impossible for us to achieve prosperity without real development in education, no matter what happens in other sectors," he told the delegation, led by DRU President Alamgir Hossain.
In response to a DRU proposal, President Iajuddin assured the DRU of all possible cooperation in introducing an award for objective reporting on education.
