Japan tested friend of Bangladesh: Envoy

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) with supports from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) yesterday distributed relief materials among the flood-affected people at Matikata village under Nikrail union in Tangail.

The relief materials that were distributed among 650 families of the village included 14 items for each packet, JICA sources said.

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Matsushiro Horiguchi, President of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Major General (Retd) ZA Khan, Additional Representative of JICA Mitsuyoshi Kawasaki and Deputy Resident Representative Takuya Sugawara were present during the distribution of relief materials.

Speaking on the occasion, Horiguchi said Japan was a tested friend of Bangladesh. He said Japan has been providing financial and technical cooperation for Bangladesh, and it would continue in future.
