Ucep launches IT learning centre in city

Underprivileged Children's Educational Programmes (Ucep) yesterday launched an internet learning centre at its technical school in the city with a view to providing internet facilities to its students.

Set up in collaboration with Cyber School Bangladesh (CSB), the centre was provided with 10 computers by Grameen Phone.

Ola Ree, managing director of Grameen Phone, formally inaugurated the centre as chief guest while M Khalid Shams, managing director of Grameen Telecom, was present as special guest.

Ola Ree said without the development of information technology, it will be difficult for Bangladesh to reach its desired goal of development.

He said although Grameen Phone is a business organisation, it is committed to contribute to the development of Bangladesh.

Khalid Shams said there is huge potential for Bangladesh if proper technological education is given to young generation.

He said the country's education system should be developed in such a way so that the students can flourish their talent.

CSB Chairperson Shapir Khasru and Ucep Executive Director Brigadier General (retd) Aftab Uddin Ahmed were present.
