The sword proved mightier than the pen as Depp made his debut being sliced'n'diced in "Nightmare On Elm Street" and going galactic as "Edward Scissorhands."
Rachel McAdams worked at McDonald's for three years
Before she became a Hollywood heartthrob, Rachel McAdams worked at McDonald's for a good three years. "I was not a great employee; I broke the orange juice machine one day," she said in an interview. Despite her lackluster job performance, McAdams describes McDonald's as a great place to work! She was 16 at the time and directing kids' theater, which didn't totally pay the bills.

Jim Carrey was a cleaner in a factory
Things weren't great for Jim Carrey in his teenage years. Before he went on to become one of the most loved comedians of all time, before we knew him as Ace Ventura and the Mask, Jim Carrey worked as a janitor, and eventually dropped out of high school. All his brothers had to do the same thing when their father, an accountant, was laid off from work.
Danny DeVito was a hairdresser
From Taxi to Twins, Danny DeVito is one of Hollywood's most recognizable figures. But he wasn't always a famous actor. His first job was hairdressing, which he did for a whole summer before he went on to being cast in Lady Liberty (1972) and One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). "There were all these girls around – that was a good summer, hahaha!" says the actor.
George Clooney an insurance salesman
Hollywood hunk George Clooney was fired from a string of low-paid jobs before he found fame. At one point the superstar actor once worked at cutting tobacco, sold door-to-door insurance and even worked in a ladies' shoe shop!
