Sammilito Islami Bank’s depositors can withdraw money from Sep 7
Sammilito Islami Bank will start normal banking transactions on September 1 and depositors will be able to withdraw money as per their demand from September 7.
However, customers who withdraw their principal amount will not receive any profit on their deposits, according to a special circular issued by the bank on August 30.
Those who keep their accounts active will receive profits at the predetermined rates according to the terms of their agreements, it added.
The circular issued by the bank’s head office instructed all department heads, zonal heads and branch managers to make the necessary preparations and follow the relevant directives in this regard.
However, in the circular, the bank said it may take a few days to complete necessary preparations, including requisitions for cash from branches and sub-branches, securing cash supplies from Bangladesh Bank, ensuring risk-free cash management and making other arrangements.
Accordingly, payments to customers will begin from September 7, 2026, after all necessary preparations are completed.
The bank has also declared September 1 as “Customer First: Payment & Service Excellence Day” across its head office, zonal offices, branches and sub-branches.
Branches have been instructed to ensure a clean and welcoming environment, adequate seating, proper lighting and organised service counters. Employees have been asked to greet customers warmly, listen to their concerns, and provide accurate information and services promptly.
Each branch has also been instructed to provide a welcome gift to arriving customers and prepare photos and videos of the day’s activities.
The circular further directed branch managers and in-charges to ensure that the activities are properly organised and that videos of the programme are sent to designated WhatsApp numbers.
The bank said the initiative is not merely a one-day event but aims to rebuild customers’ confidence and create a positive banking experience.
