DBBL to raise authorised capital to Tk 3,500cr

Star Business Report

Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC is planning to raise its authorised capital - the maximum amount it is allowed to issue in shares - to Tk 3,500 crore from Tk 1,500 crore.

The bank’s board approved the proposal at a meeting on 25 August, according to a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website yesterday.

The proposal still needs a no-objection certificate from Bangladesh Bank and shareholder approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for October 15, where it is expected to be passed as a special resolution, along with amendments to relevant clauses of the bank’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.

In a separate disclosure, the bank informed that its board has also decided to buy land in Savar to expand its data centre project.

As per the proposal, subject to approval from BB, the bank will purchase 16.60 decimals of land at Baipail in Savar for Tk 3.48 crore to support its ongoing data centre project in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ).

The land purchase aims to ensure smooth operations and expansion of the DEPZ facility. Government registration fees and other related charges will be added to the total cost.

Shares of the bank rose 0.66 percent to Tk 45.90 as of 1:54pm yesterday on the DSE.

The bank posted a net profit of Tk 441.96 crore in the January-June period of 2026, more than three times higher year-on-year, driven by higher investment income, according to its financial statements.

As of July 31, 2026, sponsors and directors held an 83.56 percent stake in the bank, while institutional, foreign, and general investors held the remaining shares, DSE data showed.
