2 deer rescued, venison seized

Bangladesh Coastguard rescued two deer and seized 140 kilograms of venison from Badurtali area in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district early yesterday.

They also seized a trawler from the Bishkhali River in the area.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of coastguard raided the area and rescued the deer and seized the venison from the trawler, said Lt Syed Abdur Rauf, commander of Patharghata station of coastguard.

Sensing the presence of the coastguard members, the poachers managed to flee the scene.

Later, the deer and venison were handed over to the local forest department, said the official.
