6 get Abul Mansur Ahmad Award in research

Five personalities have been accorded with the Abul Mansur Ahmad Award and another receives special honorary memorial for his research work on this eminent litterateur, journalist and politician of the sub-continent.

Dr Nurul Amin, Dr Rajib Humayun, Dr Mizanur Rahman, Dr Md Chengis Khan and Imran Mahfuz were awarded for their research works while Special honorary memorial was conferred to Dr Rafiqul Islam. 

The Abul Mansur Ahmad Smriti Parishad is holding the daylong "Abul Mansur Ahmad Memorial Conference" in Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy in Dhaka since this morning.

Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman inaugurated the programme, and Mahfuz Anam, son of Abul Mansur Ahmad and editor of English newspaper The Daily Star addressed at the program among others.

The first of the three sessions was based on Ahmad's life as a litterateur, was presided over by writer and novelist Syed Shamsul Haque.

Selina Hossain and Dr Morshed Shafiul Hasan took part in the discussion, where the speakers hailed the write-ups of Ahmad. They viewed that Ahmad depicted the social and political problems sharply with satire in his writings.

The following sessions on Ahmad as a journalist and a politician will take place later in the day.

The 117th birth anniversary of Abul Mansur Ahmad was observed yesterday.
