Child marriage bid foiled

Police foiled a child marriage bid at Battajar village in Bakshiganj upazila of the district on Friday. The 13-year-old schoolgirl, daughter of Abdul Kaiyum of Battajar Pashchimpara village, was going to be married with Nazmul Hassan, son of Foyez Ali of Goalgaon Purbopara village, and a student of Class IX of NM High School in the upazila, at night. On information, a police team rushed to the spot and stopped the marriage, said Mostasinur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station.
