Close aide to Bangla Bhai arrested

Police arrested a close aide to Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, executed second-in-command of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen (JMB) Bangladesh from Panch Pakia village in Atrai upazila yesterday.

The arrestee is Abul Hossain, 45, of Panch Takia village in the upazila.

On information, a police team raided Abul Hossain's house at the village at around 7:30am and arrested him from there, said Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Atrai Police Station.

He was accused in five criminal cases, including one for murder, and was trying to regroup the JMB members in the area, police said.

Police arrested Saiful Islam, 45, another member of JMB from Par Kasunda village of the same upazila in Naogaon on Friday morning.
