Drug addict kills mother

A woman was killed by her drug addict son at Shoilmari village in Dhunat upazila of the district early yesterday. The deceased is Altafunnesss Khatun, 55, wife of late Habibur Rahman of the village. Police and family sources said Abu Bakkar, 35, demanded money from his mother for buying drugs on Monday night. Being refused, Bakkar hit his mother with a stick, leaving her seriously injured. She was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where she died around 2:00am. Bakkar went into hiding soon after the incident, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dhunat Police Station.
