Expatriate abducted in Pabna

An expatriate working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was abducted from Madhupur area in Santhia upazila of the district on Monday night, family sources said.

The victim is Anisur Rahman Sohag, 32, son of Abu Sayed Khan of Boalmari village in the upazila.

He came home to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with his family members, and was scheduled to return to UAE on Wednesday (today), family sources said.

Victim's father Abu Sayed said one Md Emon of Shalgaria village called his son on Monday afternoon to meet him. "My son went to meet Emon at Madhupur at about 7:00pm on Monday, but did not return home," he said.

"When we tried to contact Sohag we found his cellphone switched off. When we contacted Emon, he said Sohag had been picked up in a microbus from Madhupur area," Sayed added. He filed a general diary (GD) with Santhia Police Station yesterday morning.

Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Nur-e-Alam of Ataikula Police Station said they are trying to rescue the victim.
