Girl rescued 5 months into abduction, one arrested
A schoolgirl, abducted from Dhunat upazila of Bogra on April 30, was rescued from Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj on Monday morning.
The victim is a Class IX student of Dhunat Girls' School. She hails from Matikora village under Dhunat upazila.
Police sent her to Shaheed Zaiur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) for medical test.
Victim's father lodged a case accusing four people, including abductor Mukit, with Dhunat Police Station on September 11 after failing to trace her.
Police arrested the abductor, Mukit Mia, 20, son of Mofiz Uddin of Dublagari village under Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj district, from Dublagari village in the upazila.
According to the case statement, Mukit had been stalking the girl on the way to school and proposing love for one year. Being rejected by the girl, Mukit with the help of his accomplices abducted her from in front of the fire service station at the upazila headquarters while she was going to school.
On Monday, police produced the arrestee before a Bogra court that sent him to jail.
Contacted, Milon Kumar Chattarjee, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhunat Police Station, said police are raiding different areas to arrest the rest of the accused.
