Indian national among 16 held on Benapole border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 16 people, including an India national, while they were entering the country from India through Putkhali border under Benapole Port Police Station illegally on Sunday. 

The Indian citizen was identified as Krishna Sarkar, 17, son of Robi Sarkar of Nadia district in the Indian state of Paschimbanga.

The Bangladeshis are from different areas of Narail, Bagerhat and Barisal districts.

BGB sources said the border guards, acting on a tip-off, raided the area on Sunday night and arrested 16 people while they were entering the country without valid documents.
