IOJ leader arrested in Kishoreganj

Police arrested Maulana Abdul Momen Sherjahan, president of the district unit of Islami Okya Jote (IOJ), from Sholakia Bazar on Tuesday night.

Police said Maulana Momen, also general secretary of the district unit of Hefajat-e-Islam, was wanted in 25 cases, including for murder, vandalising vehicles and torturing women, filed with Mithamain Police Station.

He is from Ghagra village in the upazila.

Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam of Kishoreganj Model Police Station said, law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive in Sholakia Bazar area at around 8:30pm and arrested the IOJ leader.
