Sirajganj clash leaves one dead, 20 hurt

A man was killed and 20 others were injured during a clash between two rival groups of villagers at Madla village in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district early yesterday.

Locals said a group of youths supporting Shahid Mollah misbehaved with Nur Mollah of the village on Friday night. Some other villagers arranged an arbitration meeting yesterday morning to resolve the matter.

Md Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Shahzadpur Police Station, said Shahid Mollah's men attacked Nur Mollah and his supporters at the arbitration meeting, which led to a clash between the two sides.

Yusuf Ali, a supporter of Nur Mollah, died during the clash while 20 others from both sides were injured the OC said.

The injured were taken to the upazila health complex and local clinics.
