Two guards shown arrested

None of the robbers, who looted over Tk 21 lakh from a branch of Agrani Bank in Jessore early Friday, has been arrested, police said.

Night guards of the bank, Ansar members Biswajit and Shahidul Islam, who were detained for quizzing on Friday, were shown arrested yesterday, said AKM Ariful Haque, Additional Superintendent of Police in Jessore.

Two committees of Agrani Bank -- one headed by Deputy General Manager Wahiduzzaman, also the head of Vigilance Division of the head office, and the other headed by Assistant General Manager Mrinal Kanti Bakshi of Jessore branch -- were formed to investigate the robbery. 

The robbers entered the bank at around 3:30am by cutting a window and tying up the night-guards. They then cut the vault with a blowtorch, took away the money.
