UZ chairman lands in jail

Police yesterday arrested Badrul Alam, 45, Sreepur Upazila Parishad Chairman in Magura district, on charge of planning subversive activities.

Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station, said Badrul Alam, also president of the upazila unit of BNP, was arrested from his residence at the upazila headquarters in the morning.

He was later produced in a Magura court that sent him to jail.
