Abul Hayat lauds Khairul Basar’s portrayal of Jibanananda Das

One of the most talked-about releases of Eid-ul-Azha, “Bonolata Sen” continues its run in cinemas. A special screening of the film was held on Friday (June 26) evening at Centrepoint Cineplex in Uttara, drawing a host of distinguished personalities from the country’s cultural and public spheres.

Veteran actor Abul Hayat was among those in attendance. Speaking to the media after the screening, he said he was so engrossed in the film that he “didn’t realise how two hours had passed.”

Sharing his admiration for the performances, Hayat said, “I saw many actors from television in ‘Bonolata Sen’, and only after watching the film did I truly realise the depth of their acting abilities.”

He reserved particular praise for Khairul Basar, who portrays poet Jibanananda Das.

“Basar was outstanding,” Hayat said. “I told him, ‘You are no longer the Basar we usually see on television.’ This is the kind of performance we want from him all the time. The director has brought out his true potential in this film.”

Hayat also praised the performances of Shohel Mondol and the rest of the cast.

Among those present at the special screening were Azizul Hakim, Raihan Rafi, Shahriar Shakil, Elita Karim, Kona, Sabyasachi Hazra, Sabrina Irene, Mostafa Monwar, Mustafizur Noor Imran, Munzereen Shahid, and Masum Reza.

The guest list also extended beyond the entertainment industry, including social worker and environmental activist Khushi Kabir, Professor Samina Luthfa, The Daily Star Associate Editor Arun Devnath, Adcomm Managing Director Nazim Farhan, former managing director and actor ASM Ferdous Hasan Neville, Hoichoi Bangladesh Country Director Shakib Ar Khan, and the Bangladesh country representative of UN Women, among others.

Following the screening, the invited guests interacted with the media and shared their impressions of “Bonolata Sen”, praising both the film and the performances of its cast.
