Chhayanaut hosts an evening of Tagore with Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Imtiaz Ahmed
Tagore’s songs filled the Chhayanaut auditorium in Dhanmondi on Thursday as Laisa Ahmed Lisa and Imtiaz Ahmed performed a mix of solos and duets.
Organised by Anondodhara Arts UK, the evening, titled “E Amir Aboron”, unfolded in eight sections, beginning with the two singers’ rendition of “Oi Asonotole”.
Rabindra Sangeet exponent Laisa Ahmed Lisa then performed “Modhur Tomar Shesh Je Na Pai” and “Bajao Amare Bajao”. Singer Imtiaz Ahmed followed with “Adhora Madhuri Dhorechhi” and “Modhur Modhur Dhoni Baje”.
The third section opened with the duet “Ogo Shefali Boner Moner Kamona”. Lisa then sang “Bajilo Kahar Bina” and “Amalo Dhabalo Pale Legechhe”, while Imtiaz performed “Jibone Joto Puja Holo Na Sara” and “Boro Bedonar Moto”.
The fifth section brought the two singers together for “Tumi Kemon Kore Gaan Koro Hey”. Imtiaz then performed “Tomay Gaan Shonabo” and “Tumi Nobo Nobo Rupe Esho Praney”.
Lisa returned with “Jodi Jantem Amar Kiser Byatha” and “Tomay Notun Kore Pabo Bole”, followed by Imtiaz’s performances of “Amar Bhanga Pother Ranga Dhulay” and “Jete Jete Ekla Pothe”.
The final section featured Lisa performing “Kar Milan Chao Birahi” and “Aji Jhorer Rate”. The programme concluded with “Gaaner Bhetor Diye Jokhon Dekhi”.
Imtiaz, who is based in London and works as a doctor, is also a Rabindra Sangeet singer.
Rashed Hasan, Granthana Yusuf and Laila delivered readings on Tagore’s songs during the programme.
