Five films submitted for Bangladesh’s selection for Oscars
Five films have been submitted for consideration to represent Bangladesh in the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
The films are Nurul Alam Atique’s “Manusher Bagan”, Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s “Roid”, Redoan Rony’s “Domm”, Mohammad Touqir Islam’s “Delupi” and Monirul Akash Haque’s “The University of Chankharpul”.
According to a press release issued by the Oscar Bangladesh Committee, a seven-member committee has been formed to evaluate the submitted films and select Bangladesh’s entry.
Zahirul Islam will serve as chairperson of the committee. The other members are Sajjad Sharif, Shaheen Dill-Riaz, Rashed Zaman, Opi Karim, Saiyid Shahzada Al Kareem, and Shahrin Akter Sumi. The committee has already received approval from the Academy.
The members will watch and evaluate the five submitted films before selecting one through a collective assessment and discussion.
The film chosen as Bangladesh’s submission for the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards will be officially announced on September 27.
