Jaya Ahsan has long established herself as one of the most accomplished actresses working across Bangladesh and West Bengal. Having won multiple National Film Awards in Bangladesh as well as several prestigious honours in India, she has earned widespread acclaim on both sides of the border.

She has also expanded her career into Hindi cinema, further cementing her reputation as one of the region's most versatile performers.

Earlier this year, in February, her film “OCD” was released in Kolkata, where her performance received widespread appreciation from both audiences and critics. She also garnered praise for her role in “Putul Nacher Itikatha”, continuing to strengthen her standing in Indian Bengali cinema while bringing further recognition to Bangladeshi talent on the international stage.

Continuing that successful run, her latest film, “Aajo Ardhangini”, was released today across West Bengal and several other Indian states. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly, the film serves as the sequel to the 2023 hit “Ardhangini”.

Jaya is currently in Kolkata, where she has been busy promoting the film. Speaking to The Daily Star, she shared her excitement about its release. “It's been a wonderful time promoting the film. Until now, it belonged to us, but from today, it belongs to the audience. I sincerely hope viewers will embrace it with the same love and watch it in cinemas.”

The actor expressed delight at the film's early reception, revealing that several screenings have already been running to full houses. “That's truly wonderful news. I hope audiences continue to shower the film with their love. The story is beautiful, and Kaushik Ganguly has crafted it with incredible care and precision. I believe that all of us gave our best performances.”

Asked whether she would be visiting cinemas to meet audiences, Jaya said she has been devoting much of her time to promotional activities. “Although I may not be able to visit too many theatres, I will definitely go to a few. We also have the premiere screening coming up, and I'll be there as well.”

Released in 2023, “Ardhangini” was widely appreciated for its sensitive portrayal of human relationships. Its sequel, “Aajo Ardhangini”, continues to explore the complexities of love, family dynamics and the emotional struggles that shape people's lives.

Reflecting on the affection she received for the first film, Jaya said, "To be honest, I received so much love from audiences for ‘Ardhangini’. I hope viewers will feel the same way after watching ‘Aajo Ardhangini’. All I can say is that this story will touch people's hearts."

In the new film, Jaya portrays Meghna, sharing the screen with veteran actor Churni Ganguly in what promises to be one of the film's major highlights. The recently released trailer has already generated an enthusiastic response from audiences, raising expectations ahead of the film's theatrical run.
