Malaysian PM’s office features Habib’s ‘Moha Jadu’ in Tarique's visit video
A Bangladeshi song has found an unexpected place in regional diplomacy. “Moha Jadu”, performed by Habib Wahid and Tajik singer Mehrnigori Rustam, was featured in an official video released by the office of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, highlighting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's first state visit to Malaysia since taking office.
Published on Anwar Ibrahim's verified Facebook page on Tuesday, the two-minute-and-40-second video showcases key moments from the visit, including bilateral meetings, official engagements, a luncheon, and cultural events attended by the two leaders.
The song plays during several segments of the video, including a section in which Anwar discusses the Rohingya crisis and ongoing diplomatic efforts involving ASEAN, Bangladesh, and
Malaysia to engage Myanmar on the issue.
Originally released through “Coke Studio Bangla”, “Moha Jadu” blends Bengali Baul philosophy with Persian poetry. The song features lyrics inspired by Baul poet Shah Khoyaj Mia, a disciple of the mystic Durbin Shah, alongside Persian verses written by Hadis Dehghan. Habib Wahid composed, arranged, and produced the track.
Released as part of the third season of “Coke Studio Bangla”, the song marked Habib Wahid's debut appearance on the platform. It drew attention for its fusion of Bengali folk traditions and Persian musical influences.
Tarique Rahman travelled to Malaysia on Sunday for his first official overseas visit since assuming office. Following the conclusion of the two-day visit, he departed for Dalian on Monday.
