As celebrities continue to urge the public to stand beside those affected by the severe floods sweeping across parts of the country, popular television actor Tawsif Mahbub has extended financial support to relief efforts while also raising awareness on social media.

The actor reportedly made a donation for flood-affected communities in Chattogram. He arranged for the contribution to reach those in need through a relief initiative led by one of his fans.

Mohammad Emon, a fan of Tawsif Mahbub, told Kaler Kantho that he and several others had begun collecting and distributing relief supplies in response to the current flood situation. After learning about the initiative, Tawsif contacted them and offered financial assistance.

“We are planning to travel to Banshkhali in Chattogram today to distribute relief supplies to flood-affected people according to our means,” Emon said. “After Tawsif Mahbub bhaiya learned about the initiative, he donated a substantial amount and also helped arrange the overall distribution of the relief materials.”

He added that preparations were underway to distribute dry food, flattened rice, puffed rice, safe drinking water, oral saline, essential medicines and, in particular, necessary items for women to nearly 1,000 people.

According to Emon, this was not the first time Tawsif had quietly supported people during disasters and humanitarian crises.

He also said the actor had helped several individuals personally in the past and had covered the full cost of his own education at the higher secondary level.

When contacted, Tawsif declined to comment in detail on the matter.

However, stressing the importance of collective responsibility during such crises, he said, “It is not only about me. In a disaster like this, everyone who has the means should stand beside the flood-affected people. I have tried to help according to my ability.

“If my small contribution inspires others to come forward and support them, that too can make a meaningful difference.”
