Asha Bhosle's final film song set for release on her birth anniversary
Late legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle's final recorded film song, “Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan”, is set to be released on September 8, her birth anniversary, the makers of the upcoming film “Om Ka Hari” announced.
Recorded in late 2023, when Bhosle was in her 90s, the song features in filmmaker Harish Vyas' upcoming father-son drama-comedy. The film stars Anshuman Jha, Raghubir Yadav, Soni Razdan and Ayesha Kapur.
The makers are releasing the song on Bhosle's birth anniversary as a tribute to her enduring musical legacy. Vyas said the release is intended to celebrate the singer's voice and her impact on generations of listeners.
“Launching the song on her birthday is intended as a celebration of Asha Ji's timeless voice, her immense legacy and the generations of listeners whose lives her music has touched,” Vyas said in a statement.
“Om Ka Hari” explores the relationship between a father and son, focusing on generational differences and emotions that often remain unspoken within families. For Jha, who stars in the film, having Bhosle's voice carry a song central to the story has personal significance.
“Om Ka Hari is deeply special to me because, at its heart, it is about the importance of saying ‘I love you’ to your father, something I never got the chance to do. To have Asha Ji's voice carry the song that represents the catharsis of the film is one of the most profound and memorable moments of my life as an artist,” Jha said.
Bhosle, who died on April 12 this year at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, had a career spanning more than seven decades. She recorded more than 12,000 songs and was known for classics including “Dum Maro Dum”, “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja”, “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko” and “Yeh Mera Dil”.
Her final recorded film song will now reach listeners posthumously on a date that also marks the singer's birth anniversary.
The release date of “Om Ka Hari” itself has not yet been announced.
