Reception, orientation held for new Class XI students at Rajshahi College
A reception and orientation programme for newly admitted Class XI students of Rajshahi College for the 2026-27 academic year was held at the college auditorium yesterday.
College Principal Professor Dr Md Ibrahim Ali presided over the programme, while Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Md Yusuf Ali, an additional secretary, attended as the chief guest.
The programme began with recitations from the holy scriptures, followed by a minute of silence in memory of Saifun Yad Arafat, a newly admitted Class XI student who recently passed away. A special prayer was also offered for the salvation of his departed soul.
Professor Md Iqbal Hossain, convener of the Literature and Cultural Committee, delivered an introductory address titled “Prosongo Kotha”, highlighting the college’s history and providing guidance to the new students.
Addressing the students, Md Yusuf Ali urged them to uphold the dignity and traditions of Rajshahi College while striving for strong academic results.
Professor Dr Md Ibrahim Ali said the new students would have to take responsibility for preserving the college’s heritage and reputation. He also stressed that there would be no compromise on discipline and regular attendance in classes.
Vice-Principal Professor Abu Md Yunus Ali briefed the students on various aspects of campus conduct, including uniforms, dress, food habits and etiquette.
Former chairman of the Dinajpur Education Board and Rajshahi College English Department Professor Md Touhidul Islam and Teachers’ Council Secretary Professor Dr Md Habibur Rahman also addressed the programme.
Rajshahi College Teachers’ Council Secretary Professor Dr Md Habibur Rahman, HSC Alumni Association President Chowdhury Saidur Rahman Koyel, heads of different departments, HSC teachers and guardians of the students were also present.
The programme concluded with a cultural performance.
