‘The Long Present’ opens at Bengal Shilpalay this June

Bengal Shilpalay is set to host “The Long Present”, a major group exhibition bringing together 15 prominent figures of contemporary Bangladeshi art.

The exhibition will explore the evolving language of contemporary artistic expression through the works of artists whose practices have significantly shaped Bangladesh’s visual arts landscape over the decades.

Participating artists include Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Abdus Shakoor Shah, Nazlee Laila Mansur, Farida Zaman, Mohammad Eunus, Jamaluddin Ahmed, Ranjit Das, Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mohammad Iqbal, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Kamal Uddin, and Sahid Kazi.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on June 13 at 5:00pm at Bengal Shilpalay. Following the opening, it will remain open to visitors daily from 4:00pm to 8:00pm until July 4.

By bringing together artists from different generations and artistic practices, “The Long Present” seeks to foster a dialogue on continuity, transformation, and renewal within Bangladesh’s contemporary art scene.
