National Professor Rafiqul Islam, one of the most distinguished researchers on National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, passed away at 2:30pm today at the capital's Evercare Hospital.

Today marks the 41st founding anniversary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, the central organisation for all theatre troupes across the country. On the occasion, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a discussion at the seminar room of their National Theatre Hall.

“TIME: As We Know It” is a group exhibition with 55 artworks of ten young artists as they explore their perceptions about time. The exhibition is currently underway at EMK Center, Dhanmondi.

Renowned Bangladeshi artist Jahangir Hossain’s solo exhibition “Hope for Life” has commenced at the Bahrain Art Center in the capital Manama.

The MIS-TRACE, a conceptual art exhibition by the prominent visual artist Nazia Andaleeb Preema, went underway yesterday at the Dhaka Gallery located at Gulshan.

Indian artist Shruti Gupta Kasana’s solo exhibition, titled “Mukher Abhibyakti” highlighted the form of non-verbal communication through its vividly presented portraits.

Her portrayal of Hurmoti in the hit television series, “Shongshoptok” was widely appreciated by viewers. Recently, she was honoured with the Aly Zaker Sanman Padak.

A solo photography exhibition, titled ‘Climate Migrants in Bangladesh’ by Abir Abdullah, began at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi recently. 

In 1971, at the age of 17, Mamun photographed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 3, 1971. “I didn’t know he’d make the call for independence on March 7, but I happened to have witnessed and captured the moment,” he recalled. Ever since, Mamun grew a passion to capture portraits of famous personalities through his lenses. He captured portraits of more than 8,000 famous personalities till date.
