After months of delay, filming for Apu Biswas’ upcoming project “Shikar” is finally set to begin this month. Initially announced earlier this year as a web film, the project has now been reworked into a full-length feature destined for theatrical release.

Director Kamruzzaman Roman said production was postponed because the pre-production process took longer than expected. As development progressed, the creative team decided the story deserved a larger cinematic canvas.

“While working on the pre-production, we realised that considering the scale of the story, budget and cast, the project would be better suited as a feature film,” Roman said. “After discussing the idea with the producers at Reza Films, we collectively decided to move forward with a theatrical release.”

The filmmaker revealed that a significant portion of the thriller will be shot in Nepal. The cast and crew are expected to travel there in the middle of this month to begin principal photography.

The film’s music production is also underway. One of the songs, titled “Dujon Mile Bachbo Ek Jibon”, has already been recorded with vocals by Imran Mahmudul and Nazmun Munira Nancy. Written by Kabir Bakul, the track has been composed and arranged by Imran Mahmudul.

Another song, a melancholic number composed and sung by Akash Mahmud, is also scheduled to be recorded.

“Shikar” is a thriller set against the backdrop of a border region. Roman said the film’s narrative will be its strongest asset, while Apu Biswas will appear in a glamorous role unlike her recent screen appearances.

“The story is the heart of this film. Our cast and crew have already begun preparations, and we hope to deliver a compelling cinematic experience,” the director said.

Joining Apu Biswas in the film is television actor Murtaza Palash. Roman said he cast Palash after being impressed by his performances on the small screen.

The screenplay has been written by Abdullah Zahir Babu.
