Chanchal Chowdhury is the mystery man in ‘Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders’

Chanchal Chowdhury’s mysterious look in the upcoming web-series “Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders” has been unveiled, offering the first glimpse of his character in filmmaker Pratim D Gupta’s cop universe.

Earlier, Chanchal had confirmed that he would be joining the project but remained tight-lipped about his character. The first look now reveals the actor as a mysterious character, staring intensely onto someone with visible bruises on his face. The intriguing look has already sparked curiosity among audiences.

The announcement comes after the Hoichoi Season 10 slate was unveiled, confirming that “Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders” will premiere as a web-series on the streaming platform in December. The series will serve as a prequel to “Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale”, which was released in 2024.

Alongside Chanchal, the series will see the return of the original cast, with Tota Roy Chowdhury reprising his role as Kanishka Chatterjee and Anirban Chakrabarti returning as Naseer Rehman.

Reflecting on his return to the world of “Chaalchitro”, Pratim D Gupta wrote on social media, “For the first time in 14 years, I am returning to a world I’d created before. ‘Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders’ is a homecoming of sorts, a prequel to ‘Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale’, the underdog which became a big winner in 2024-25 and received so much love from all of you.”

He added, “To revisit the characters of Kanishka and Naseer, to re-enter this universe and sculpt the origin story that began it all is an emotion I find difficult to put into words. It’s coming in December, and I’m hoping you’ll shower it with even more love.”
