Tawsif, Sreya team up for Vicky Zahed’s new web series

Actor Tawsif Mahbub is set to appear in filmmaker Vicky Zahed’s upcoming web series “Pranbhomra”, alongside actress Sreyashee Sreya. The series will mark Sreya’s debut in OTT content and is being produced for streaming platform iScreen.

Tawsif began his OTT journey with Vicky Zahed’s series “Chokro” in 2024 and later received praise for his performance in “Chokro 2.” He is now returning to work with the director once again.

Known primarily for his horror and psychological thriller projects, Vicky Zahed is taking a different approach with “Pranbhomra.” The series was officially announced at a press conference yesterday, where the filmmaker revealed that it will combine romance with a mythological thriller.

Describing the project, Vicky said, “This is mainly a romantic mythological thriller. A mythology has been brought into the context of the present time. In the folktales we grew up reading, demons could not be defeated unless their ‘pranbhomra’ was destroyed. That life force was often hidden far away, inside a fish’s stomach beneath the waters. This series takes that mythology and blends it with a contemporary love story.”

Tawsif said he did not want to miss the opportunity to work with Vicky again.

“My OTT journey began under Vicky Zahed’s direction. When another opportunity came to work with him, I did not want to miss it. I am always looking for good projects, and this is one of them,” he said.

The actor added that he did not want to reveal details about the story yet but hoped audiences would enjoy the series. He also welcomed the arrival of new faces in the industry, saying that fresh talent would help expand the entertainment sector.

Sreyashee Sreya, who started her showbiz career through modelling, made her acting debut with the television drama “Heerar Angti” in 2021. She has since worked with actors including Mosharraf Karim, Shamol Mawla, Shajal Noor, Emon and Shamim Hasan Sarkar.

Speaking about her OTT debut, Sreya said she has been preparing for the role for a long time through grooming and training.

“I will try to give my best through ‘Pranbhomra’. I don’t want to enter the project with any shortcomings. I hope audiences will see the results of my preparation on screen,” she said.

Filming for “Pranbhomra” is expected to begin in October. The release date has not been announced yet.
