After earning appreciation for her performance in Nurul Alam Atique's "Lal Moroger Jhuti", talented actress Ashna Habib Bhabna is set to star in Shuddhaman Choiton's debut feature film "Dampara".

Shooting of the film will begin from December 24 in Chattogram, Bhabna told The Daily Star.

The actress will be portraying the role of the first female ambassador of Bangladesh Mahmuda Haque, wife of SP Shamsul Haque, who was martyred during 1971. Renowned actor Ferdous will be playing the role of SP Shamsul Haque in "Dampara".

The plot of the film, which is set in Chattogram, revolves around the Liberation War of Bangladesh, portraying Martyr Shamsul Haque, a brave police officer.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police is producing the story of valour and sacrifice of police officers like SP Shamsul Haque against Pakistani soldiers during the Liberation War in Dampara, Chattogram.

"I have personally spent some time with Mahmuda Haque, and I have found many similarities between us," shares Bhabna.

"In fact, after seeing me, she told me that I look like her younger self."

Bhabna shares that the film is inspired from Mahmuda's life. It will reflect two major times in her life, when she was 25 years old in 1971 and when she became the first lady ambassador of Bangladesh.

"I was amazed to learn that she loves painting too," says Bhabna. "I hope I will be able to justify her portrayal. I was lucky enough to observe her personally before playing the role onscreen," she concludes.
