‘He was an exceptionally humorous man’

Well-known for playing memorable comedic characters, prolific actor Abdul Kader first became a popular face on television with the role of Bodi in Humayun Ahmed's "Kothao Keu Nei" and his regular appearances on the popular family-oriented show "Ittyadi". "Matir Kole", "Nokkhotrer Raat", "Shobuj Sathi", "Agun Laga Shondhya", "Tin Tekka", "Nitu, Tomake Bhalobashi", "Kushum Kushum Bhalobasha", "Shundorpur Kotodur", "Amader Choto Nodi", "Durer Akash", "Harano Sur", "Ei Shei Konthoshor", "Bohurupi", "Ek Jonome", and "Jol Pore Pata Nore", among others, are some of his most notable television projects.
"Payer Awaj Pawa Jay", "Tomrai", "Meraj Fokirer Ma", "Dui Bon" and "Ekhono Kritodas'', among others, are some of his notable plays.
Today marks the first death anniversary of this talented actor. On this day, his co-artiste Ferdousi Mazumder talked to The Daily Star, reminiscing about her memories with him.

Abdul Kader was a gifted actor. We need more talents like him in the industry. He could easily blend into any role, be it comedic or dramatic. His expertise on screen fascinated me.

As an artiste, we shared several memories together. He was involved with theatre as well. As we were in same team, I got to know him better than anyone else which made me understand that he was not only a good actor but also a good human being.

While at an outdoor shoot for the drama "Ekhono Dusshomoy," a guard was not letting me enter the shooting spot. Abdul Kader was right behind me. He laughed at him saying, "Let her in or you'll face severe consequences," which surprised the guard. The man was left astonished even after Abdul Kader introduced me.

Abdul Kader and Khairul Alam Sabuj used to visit my house every Friday.  We spent a lot of time together. One Friday morning, the two of them suddenly arrived at home. I immediately asked if they had breakfast. Abdul Kader pulled the dialogue of a play and said, "Why are you always hungry?" He was an exceptionally humorous man.

"Meraj Fokirer Ma", "Ekhono Dusshomoy", "Payer Awaj Pawa Jay" are some of the plays that we did together. I hope my prayers reach him, wherever he is.
