Jaya Ahsan’s ‘Jhorapalok’ selected for Kolkata Int’l Film Festival
The film, "Jhorapalok", directed by Sayantan Mukherjee and produced by Pawan Kanodia, has been selected for the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). Popular actress Jaya Ahsan plays Labonno, wife of eminent poet Jibananda Das, in the film. She shared the news about the selection on her verified Facebook profile. The festival will kick off on January 8, 2022.
"Jhorapalok" focuses on the life of Jibananda Das. Bratya Basu and Rahul Banerjee will portray the renowned poet at different points in his life. The film will focus on the post-Tagore era in India. A character in the film is based on Kazi Nazrul Islam.
For this year's edition of the KIFF, the focus country is Finland. The festival will pay special tributes to noted filmmaker Satyajit Ray on his birth centenary. The event will open with Ray's 1970 classic, "Aranyer Din Ratri". Among regional cinema, films in Rajbangshi and Tulu languages will also be shown.
