Kolkata Int’l Film Festival postponed due to Covid-19 surge
The 27th Kolkata International Film Festival has been postponed due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in West Bengal.
The development comes just a day after the organisers said they have decided to go ahead with the event by limiting the capacity of the venues to 50 percent. However, the organisers postponed it due to safety issues on Wednesday.
They added that the new date of the festival will be announced soon.
The chairperson of the festival Raj Chakraborty and his wife Subhashree Ganguly, an actor, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
The one-week event was set to open with Satyajit Ray's 1970 classic "Aranyer Din Ratri" and feature 200 shows of 180 films in 10 different theatres across the state capital.
