What is the use slinging mud at each other just for the election: Moushumi

Shah Alam Shazu

Eminent actress Moushumi is currently in the news for contesting under the Misha-Zayed panel at the Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association election.

In a candid conversation, the versatile actress opens up about her stance on recent issues.

In the last election, you lost against Misha Sawdagar for the post of president. Now you are participating under his panel.  Why the sudden change in decision?

I joined their panel because they came to me first, and requested me to join their committee. There is no point on having bad blood with one another, we are one big family, and we need to work together to develop our film industry. I do not want any clashes or problems between the artistes for the election.

Did you feel that your fans will be hurt by this decision?

I really do not think my fans will be hurt by this decision, as they love me and respect me. What is use of slinging mud at at each other? I really don't like such conflicts. I want a healthy and safe environment for the participants to vote peacefully.

What is your take on veteran artiste Ilias Kanchan's participation in the election?

Ilias Kanchan bhai is a wonderful person, and I have known him for ages. In the last election, he acted as the election commissioner for the election and now he is running for the post of president.

Both the panels consist of an assembly of both qualified and less qualified artistes. Now it is up to the voters to decide whom they want as their winning committee.

You're shooting for 3 government granted films, tell us about them.

I have completed shooting for "Shonar Chor", "Deshantor" and "Bhangon". Currently, I am worried about my mother's health, who is currently living in America. My only concern right now is to visit her soon.

Will you not be participating in the election, then?

I am not sure whether I will be taking part in the election or not. My mom is my first priority and currently her wellbeing is the only thing that concerns me right now.
