Clarification, our reply
The road transport and bridges ministry yesterday sent a clarification for a report published in The Daily Star on April 12 with the headline “Public bus, not auto rickshaw”.
The ministry said the Road Transport and Highways Division had sought opinions of different ministries and departments regarding the approval of 5,000 CNG-run auto-rickshaw licenses in line with a High Court directive. The report did not mention the HC directive.
Besides encouraging the private sector to introduce more buses, the ministry has made move to add 600 buses to the BRTC fleet, it says.

The rejoinder did not challenge or deny any facts of the report. It just mentioned that the move to allow more CNG-run auto-rickshaw was made as per the HC directive.
