Firdausi Qadri receives BDI Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognition for decades of infectious disease research and vaccine development

icddr,b Senior Scientist Firdausi Qadri has been named the recipient of the 2026 Bangladesh Development Initiative (BDI) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her lifelong contributions to infectious disease research, vaccine development and public health in Bangladesh.

Qadri will formally receive the award at BDI’s next international conference, where she is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address, according to an icddr,b press release issued today.

The recognition highlights her decades-long work in infectious disease research and vaccine development, as well as her role in inspiring a new generation of scientists, particularly women scientists, in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Development Initiative (BDI), a US-based non-partisan research and advocacy organisation established in 2012, presents the award to individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to Bangladesh’s development and improving the quality of life of its people.
