Madrasa teacher jailed for rape
A court here yesterday sentenced a madrasa teacher to seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually abusing a four-year-old girl in Banskhali upazila of the district in 2005.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 also fined the convict, Abdus Sattar, 45, a teacher of Jamia Millia Azizia Kasemul Ulum Madrasa at Boilchhari under the upzila, Tk 25,000, in default, he is to suffer another year in jail.
According to the prosecution, Sattar took the girl, also a student of Nurani (class-I) to the first floor of the madrassa on April 18, 2005 and sexually abused her.
Her mother filed a rape case with Banskhali Police Station on April 24. Police submitted charge sheet against Sattar on May 31, 2005 and the court framed charge against the accused on September 1, 2005.
