Niece murder
A nine-year-old girl was killed and her mother seriously injured as the girl's uncle hit them with a sharp weapon at Gorgram Majhpara village under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
Police and locals said two sons of late Nizamuddin-- Babul Hossain, 38, and Obaidul Haque, 32-- had an altercation over their share in parental property. At one stage, Obaidul became furious and hit Babul's wife Asma Begum and daughter Rimu with a sharp weapon.
Locals rushed them to Nilphamari Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared Rimu dead. Locals caught Obaidul and then handed him over to the police.
