Admission crisis
A severe crisis has been predicted to loom over the admission of the students, who have passed the HSC-levels this year, to higher educational institutions due to dearth of seats in medical colleges, national universities and other different private and public universities. Besides the universities, a shocking situation is likely to occur in the leading colleges in cities where many bright students are unlikely to get admission due to shortage of seats. On Tuesday Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regulated the proper channels to make sure cent percent admission facilities for every SSC and HSC passed student into colleges and universities. "Each year, it is regular to know, students have less scopes to get admitted into colleges and universities. It should not go further," she said. Now, in the light of the annotations made and the directive issued by the Prime Minister we can hope that required initiatives will be taken to resolve the looming admission crisis with the aim of easing the entrance of the students to the higher educational institutions, including universities and medial colleges. It should be the state's commitment to make the arrangements if the students want to pursue higher education. As this is a continual problem, the government should set up more educational institutions at higher level and until that can be done double shifts can be introduced in the existing educational institutions to accommodate the enhanced number of students there. The present government has decided to establish three public universities. In this way some more educational institutions may be set up to ease the crisis permanently. In the meantime, the colleges having honours courses and the public and private universities should increase immediately the number of seats to accommodate more students.
