Babu Murder in Natore
3 arrested from Dhaka remanded for 3 days
Three arrested from Dhaka on Monday night in connection with upazila chairman Sanaullah Noor Babu murder case was remanded for three days yesterday.
Judge Mahmudul Hasan of Baraigram Cognizance Court passed the order at about 01:00pm after Sub-Inspector Abdul Hannan of Natore Detective Branch of police, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court with a prayer for five-day remand on Tuesday noon.
Earlier, on Monday night a team of Natore Detective Branch of police, assisted by local police, arrested three more accused in the murder case of Baaigram upazila chairman Sanaullah Noor Babu from the capital's Manik Miah Avenue area.
The arrestees were identified as Ashraful Islam Mithu, 32, son of Arman Ali and Mohammad Badsha, 35, son of late Chand Mia of Mohisdanga village and also the convener of Bonpara Municipal Swechchhasebak League and Lutfor Rahman, 35, of Gurumshoil village under Baraigram upazila in the district.
Mithu is a cousin of main accused KM Zakir Hossain, former information and research secretary of Awami League's Natore district unit.
On October 10, Detective Brunch of police arrested another accused, Russell Hossain Rappu, an upazila unit activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, from his Mohisdanga village home.
Upzila Chairman Babu, also the president of Bonpara Municipal BNP was killed on 8 October during an attack allegedly by AL activists on a procession at Bonpara Bazar.
On October 9, his widow Mohua Noor Kachi filed a case with Boraigram police station accusing 27 people.
