8 made senior secretaries
The government yesterday promoted eight secretaries to the rank of senior secretaries, according to a gazette notification of the public administration ministry.
They are finance division secretary Mohammad Tareque, water resources secretary Sheikh Altaf Ali, public administration secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, health and family welfare secretary Md Humayun Kabir, textiles and jute secretary Md Ashraful Moqbul, economic relations division secretary Iqbal Mahmud and agriculture secretary CQK Mushtak Ahmed and Privatisation Commission member Begum Rokeya Sultana.
They will remain in their current places of posting with the elevated ranks, says the notification.
The position of senior secretaries will be above the secretaries but below the cabinet secretary and principal secretaries to the prime minister office.
Yesterday afternoon, Inspector General of Police Hassan Mahmud Khandaker also promoted to the rank of senior secretary, said a Police Headquarter source quoting Prime Minster's office.
