2 killed as Dhaka-bound bus hits motorcycle in Kurigram

Two men were killed after a Dhaka-bound bus hit their motorcycle in Kurigram on Thursday night.

The accident occurred around 9:30pm on the Dharla bridge of Kurigram-Sonahat land port road in Kurigram sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Khalid Rahman, 21, son of Noor Islam, and Faruk Hossain, 25, son of Afsar Uddin. Both were residents of the Kachchiir Bazar area in Kurigram Sadar upazila.

Police and local sources said Khalid and Faruk were returning home from Kurigram town when the bus struck their motorcycle on the bridge, injuring both of them seriously.

Locals rescued them and took them to Kurigram General Hospital, where doctors referred them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, both died on the way.

Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, confirmed the deaths and said the bus fled the scene. “The bus could not be seized. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed,” he added.
