Former IGP Enamul Haque passes away
Former inspector general of police (IGP) M Enamul Haque died at a hospital in Dhaka around 5:30am yesterday. He was 88.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter, according to a Police Headquarters statement.
His namaz-e-janaza was held after the Zohr prayers at the SI Shiru Mia Milonayatan at Rajarbagh Police Lines. Senior police officials, his relatives and former colleagues attended the funeral.
After the prayers, Additional IGP (Administration) AKM Awlad Hossain placed a wreath on the coffin on behalf of IGP Md Ali Hossain Fakir.
Dr Enamul served as IGP from October 1991 to July 1992 and as a member of the Law Commission from 2004 to 2007.
The IGP and Bangladesh Police Service Association expressed deep shock at his death and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
