Coastal districts, capital Dhaka and most parts of Bangladesh have been experiencing torrential rains owing to the effects of Cyclone Sitrang.

Power Division has asked all it's subordinate bodies -- in power transmission and distribution segments -- to open control rooms in their respective offices as Cyclone Sitrang approaches.

Due to the adverse weather conditions brought on by Cyclone Sitrang, loading and unloading of goods at both domestic and foreign commercial ships at Mongla port have been halted.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring developments centering cyclone Sitrang round the clock and giving necessary instructions to the government officials to minimize possible loss of lives and properties.
