Four schoolgirls from the same school and village have gone missing after leaving their homes for private tuition in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon yesterday morning.

Police launched a search operation following a general diary (GD) with Baliadangi Police Station last night.

"We are investigating the incident from all possible angles and continuing efforts to trace the girls. We hope to find them soon and return them safely to their families," Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bulbul Islam said.

The missing girls are all residents of the same village and students of the same educational institution. Three are in tenth grade and one in eighth grade.

According to their family members, the girls left their homes around 6:00am, telling their families they were going for private tuition.

When they failed to return home by evening, their families searched for them before reporting the matter to police. As their whereabouts remained unknown, a guardian of one of the girls lodged the GD.

"We have no idea where our daughters are or what condition they are in. We are extremely worried," said the father of one of the missing girls.

Another girl's mother said the family has been deeply anxious as they had no information about what had happened to the girls.
