BGB says it foiled BSF bid to push 10-12 people into Bangladesh through Satkhira border

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India allegedly attempted to push 10-12 people into Bangladesh through the Kalindi river border in Satkhira on Friday.

However, the attempt was foiled by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The incident took place around noon at Chhoto Bashjharia area along the Kalindi river, under the jurisdiction of Khurmi Border Outpost (BOP) of Nildumur 17 BGB Battalion, said Lt Col Khondaker Abu Sahl Abdullah, commanding officer of the battalion.

According to BGB sources, members of the Char Sahebkhali camp of India's 77 BSF Battalion attempted to enter Bangladesh on a boat and a speedboat carrying 10-12 unidentified people amid heavy rain.

A regular patrol team of Khurmi BOP noticed the movement and immediately reached the spot on a BGB speedboat, preventing the group from entering Bangladesh.

Faced with resistance from the BGB, the BSF personnel turned back with the people and returned to Indian territory, the sources said.

“No individual or group will be allowed to enter Bangladesh territory illegally,” he said.
