Apple sets September 9 date for next iPhone launch event
Apple has confirmed its next product launch event will take place on September 9 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, carrying the tagline "Surprise and Shine."
The event will be the first major Apple occasion presided over by John Ternus, who is scheduled to officially succeed Tim Cook as chief executive on September 1. Cook has led Apple since 2011.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, though reports indicate the two models will be relatively iterative upgrades rather than a major redesign, with the standard iPhone 18 not expected to be announced until next year.
The prospect of a foldable iPhone is likely to attract much of the attention. Foldable devices have already become an established category among several rival smartphone manufacturers, while Apple has so far stayed with conventional iPhone designs.
Other expected announcements include the Apple Watch Series 12, a new Apple Watch Ultra and additional smart-home products. Apple may also confirm release dates for its next generation of operating systems, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate.
