Three teams in contention as DPL title race goes to the wire

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025-26 title race will go down to the final matchday on Friday, with Abahani, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Prime Bank Cricket Club all still in contention for the trophy.

The three teams are tied on 16 points from 10 matches.

Defending champions Abahani are in the strongest position to retain the title. A victory over Mohammedan in their final league match at BKSP-3 will be enough to secure a fourth consecutive championship.

Mohammedan, however, face a more complicated equation in their bid to win a first DPL title since the 2009-10 season. They must beat Abahani and then hope Prime Bank lose to Dhaka Leopards in their final-round match at BKSP-4.

Prime Bank find themselves in a similar situation. They must defeat Leopards and rely on Mohammedan overcoming Abahani. If that scenario unfolds, Prime Bank will be crowned champions for the first time since the 2014-15 season, courtesy of their superior head-to-head record against Mohammedan this season.

According to the tournament bylaws, head-to-head results take precedence over net run rate in the event of teams finishing level on points. Abahani defeated Prime Bank earlier in the campaign, giving them the advantage in that matchup.

Elsewhere, Gazi Group Cricketers will take on City Club at the ULAB Cricket Ground, Gulshan Cricket Club will face Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club at BKSP, while Agrani Bank Cricket Club meet Bashundhara Strikers at the Bashundhara Sports Complex.

Of those fixtures, the clash between Gulshan and Rupganj Tigers carries added significance, as it will determine which side joins Brothers Union in being relegated.
